Once Again was talking to Phabin as we do when we r bored at work. We were trying to come up with a skill / abilities system as you level up in the game. I was thinking something similar to a WoW/ Border lands system with a little tweak.
Ok so mana would work the same use mana to use all ur abilities / magic. You would have around 3 different types of skill trees to spec a character into. To gain new abilities would be based on your elemental attunement. Depending on ur attunement would change the affects of ur abilities because they would now be of a different element. Think of attunement as the element you are wielding atm.
Your abilities would be the same except they would be now of that element your changed to with maybe a slight alterations of status affects or other affects depending on the ability.
When You start the game the characters will start with their own primary element attunement Cloud(wind) Zev(fire) Crixs(dark) etc...
As you level up you would gain attunement points and you would be able to only place them in your primary element. Placing attunement points into an element would raise the attunement level of that element. Ur skills would require a certain elemental attunement level to use them.
Later in the game you ll be able to switch ur attunement changing your abilities to reflect the new element. You will be able only to have one element active at one time. Unless your Phabin which is a whole other post.
I ll use cloud for an example. Since cloud's primary element is wind he would start being attuned to wind. His Three Skill Trees are Cloud Form, Ninja, Gambler say i decide to be Cloud Form spec.
which would look something like this:
Cloud form:
Attunement = Wind Level 2
[Level 1: Attunement:] {Wind(spell1)} {Transform(Cloud Form)}
[Level 2: Attunement:]{WindShear(spell2)}{Enpower Weapon(wind)
[Level 3: Attunement:] ..........................
now If i were to change attunement it would look something like...
Cloud form:
Attunement = Fire Level 2
[Level 1: Attunement:] {fire(spell1)} {Transform(Cloud Form)}
[Level 2: Attunement:]{FireShear(spell2)}{Enpower Weapon(fire)
[Level 3: Attunement:] ..........................
now granted changing attunement is hard to do thus we would implement this in the end of the game type thing. Ya just spitting some ideas out there what do you think?
